Brian Ballard

• Gravity Pro, Age 34
• 2nd year with Mojo Wheels

•Age: physically... about 55, mentally..... about 25...
•Height 5'5"
•Weight: Depends on the day, maybe 185#
•Racing Class: Professional, (about time!)
•Events, 4X, DS, DH
•Goals: I really look forward to schooling some of the younger Pro riders on the circuit, I am living proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks, mostly I just want to have fun and pass on some of my experience to the younger riders on the team like Trevor and Willis, and show them that you can do anything you put your mind to and that you are capable of much, more than you might initially think you are. My philosophy is that age is a matter of the mind..... if you don't mind it doesn't matter!

• Gravity Semi-Pro, Age 27
• 5th year with Mojo Wheels

This will be my fifth year on the Mojo Wheels Racing Team. I love riding and training with the team. I started racing XC in 1994, it was a tough sport to leave (I really have a thing for wearing tights). I have spent the last 13 years on and off my bike. Five years ago I decided to try gravity racing and I’ve been hooked ever since. When I’m not training with the juniors, I’m a sales manger at the shop. Last year I was voted “most likely to cry after falling down”. This year I hope to pass this honor to an 11 year old. I really appreciate all that Mojo Wheels has done for the race scene and hope for an injury free 2008.

I'm "the Coop" a 36 year old journeymen electrician. I've been riding bikes since I was 5 years old and am a former top 5 national BMXer at age 15. I did not ride much in my 20's as I was concentrating on my career. BUT once that was all taken care of I've been killing it on a mountain bike in my 30's. My specialty is 4 cross and I'm racing semi pro and some vet pro. I just love kicking the snot out of these 20 year old kids and hucking bigger jumps than they do, great fun!

Jason Moody

• Gravity Semi-Pro, Age 28

I started out racing bmx and dirt jumping when I was a youngster. Moved on to mountain biking in high school. I got into racing sportbikes for about 3 years with the MRA here in Colorado. While racing motorcycles I continued to ride mountain bikes and ended up bumping into Bobby at the shop. Before I knew it I was selling my race bike and head over heels into gravity racing. I raced sport for two years and eventually took the championship in 2005. Last season I raced expert and again took the championship. This season will be a great learning experience and opportunity for me to grow as a rider in Semi-pro.

I started my bicycling career at the tender young age of 9 bmxing racing. I raced for 4 years, that's when I got a mountain bike. Last year was my first year gravity racing. I podiumed in both races and applied for my semi pro licence for the 2008 season. When I'm not training with the team, I'm wrenching in the shop. Biking is my life.

He has been known as many things throughout his fourteen years on this planet called Earth. Such names include Puncher-Man, O-Man, the Beast, and the recently famed Dangerous Dave, which has been commended as his racing name. He races all Specialized bikes, including the Demo 8, in which he feels is the best piece of art ever crafted. He looks up to his older faster teammates like Bob, Szymon, and James, who have really helped out his riding, and will be uber glad the day he can keep up with them. As a multi-Colorado State Champion Mountain and road biker, he prides himself on being humble, energetic, motivated, and determined in not just racing, but life itself. David trains on and off the bike daily and competes in countless races in the Mountain States Cup and the National Mountain Bike Series throughout the year, as well as the Tom Danielson Junior road bike series. Dangerous Dave likes girls too, LIKE A LOT! But biking comes first…

Pronounced (Fu- Win) – Yes, I realize that’s a whole lot of letters for a 2 syllable name. I was born in the rugged jungles of South Vietnam; part wombat, short order cook and ninja. Riding DH is the most fun and challenging sport I’ve ever participated in. I race for the competition, the scenery and the friends you make along the way. The MSC is one of the best series in the US if not the best period. I also race for the free Beer Chicken and uber cold Samurai Beer@! When I first started riding in 2001 it was such an “Elitest” sport and all the Pro’s and Experts made you feel like a complete tool for not being as fast as them. Then along comes MojoWheels and I found a home. They have a race program so unique and friendly that they’ve opened up and paved the way for several new comers.

I want to thank Steve and Lisa for the best support any “Expert” Racer can ever, ever receive. 08’ will be a kick ass season..! “Rubber side down..! and Balls to the Metal..@!”.

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 200#
30+ Expert during '07 season - undetermined for '08

My name is Josh Baden, I've been riding bikes of one type or another since I was 5 or so, and riding MTB since '88. I've been bothering the good people at Mojo since the early 90's when they first opened on Garrison St. - I remember drooling over a Marin "Nail Trail" with all it's purple ano bits and dropping by just to look at it. I hadn't raced much DH before '06, but had an affinity for falling and jumping off of things at speed - so when my friend Grant suggested that I give it a go, I listened. If I had to pick a favorite racing memory, it would probably be Angelfire at the beginning of the '06 season - I surprised myself with a 3rd place finish in Expert 30+.
My second favorite race memory was puking from my CX bike during the '01 CO State Championships - before taking home the State Championship jersey 15 loooong minutes later... I enjoy riding with all the guys from Mojo - Sizemon, Shrek, Phu, Duc, Caveman, Coop and a bunch of others. It's a good feeling being out riding a nd progressing with bros. I love riding my bike because it's been the one constant in life that I can turn to anytime - whether I feel like hell, or am happy as hell. I love racing because, in my eyes, there is nothing in this world that compares to the feeling of going as fast as you possibly can over stuff that many won't walk down, knowing full well that if you fall it's gonna be very, very ugly - yet pushing to go faster still.

My wife thinks I’m crazy, but I could not stand by and watch my son Tyler have all the fun. A couple of years ago he dared me to try a race…I did and have been hooked ever since. We enjoy spending our summers in the beautiful Rocky Mountains hitting epic rides and racing at sweet venues. Racing in the Mountain States Cup Series and the G3 Series has introduced me to a bunch of really cool people who are a blast to hang with and I dig the competition. This past season there were even several confirmed sightings of air underneath my tires! I’m in it for the fun but don’t be mistaken, when the testosterone starts flowing, I love nothing better than a podium finish!

AKA: Hippie, Hair-farmer, Caveman

I am a Marine Corps Veteran of Desert Shield/Storm/Saber, turned long-haired hippie. I started racing in 1998, when I lived in the potato state of Idaho. After five seasons of DH in the Northwest states of Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Utah, I moved to this beautiful state of Colorado. I came here as a top expert in Idaho, and became lucky to place under 20th place in my first season here. The next year I met Bob and joined the team. I got whooped by the likes of Phu, Duc, Shoe, and Coop. I trained in the next off-season and built jumps in my yard, brought over lots of my Mojo Brothas and shredded some dirt. This last season was the best of my life and many memories were made. It makes me wonder how much more fun the next will be? This next year, I plan to chase Ballard some more, spank alot more KOZO and YETI butt, and try to catch up a little closer to Super-Coop in the Jedi-class. Oh, also I hope to get Steve's wheels off the ground, ride and jump more with Marcel and Kessler, and do more riding, practice, and coaching with Bob, J-rok, Phu, and our grommets. I also think the bike world could use a little more break-dancing from all of us this year. I can't wait to let it fly and flow with you all.. G.

I started riding straight out of diapers and i've been riding ever since. Mostly just to get around. But in the last year i purched a dirt jumper and a downhill bike. I started slow but progressed very fast. Due to the fact that i learned how to ride from semi-pro racers and the best freeriders in the state. so needless to say i was pushed hard to get fast so i can try to keep up. After almost A full season at kestone I finally got a real downhill bike My baby the Demo 7 Tatoo INOVATE OR DIE. thats when i got really fast and decided to race. This is my first year racing, I plan to dominate the expert class this year and hope to move to semi-pro by next season.

• Mountain biking is by far my favorite thing to do. You cannot ever get me to stop. This sport has giving me some of my best memories and I have met some really cool people along the way. I wish I got in this sport way earlier, I hear stories of me riding a big wheel down this steep hill by my house when I was three. I have always been a daredevil, in the elementary and middle schools around my hood I am known as Crazy Dave. Every now and then I hear them walking down the street whispering to themselves, “That’s crazy Dave I’ll bet you anything!” and I just love it. I have never done anything I enjoyed more than this. My only goals for this season are to be a little bit braver and go a little bigger than I have in the past. I cannot wait to start training for next year.

I am training this off season in hopes for going to jounier world championships in four years. A little ambitious but it gives me something to work for.
This past season on Mojo was my best by far. I got to become a lot better rider and I had a lot of fun with the other jouniers and some seniors like Brian, James, and Syzmon. Thank you Mojo for such a good year.

Willis. This little Aussie knows how to rip.....
i am 14 and originally from Australia but i started riding in Hong Kong, i think the thing that keeps me riding the most is the fun and my brother. Without him i would have no reason to get better, but i am always trying to beat him. I ride with him all the time, i love to BMX and DH and just about anything. I think my best memory is when in my second season i saw Jordon hit the Airplane jump and thinking i could never do it and then a year later hitting it and it being no problem. Other than riding i hit up the video games a little, ski and play lacrosse. Goals for next season are to place top 15 or better in sport.

I really like to bike and race. I am training this off-season even more extensively, so I can perform even better this coming year. My goal over the next few years is to be a Junior Expert and race in the World Championships. So far (last year was my first year), my favorite MTB memory is riding all the time and racing every race. Each race brings a new fun experience. I will ride with anyone that will challenge me to do better, from the Mojo Experts to my Division team members (that includes you guys - Trevor, Willis, Brad and Sean-Matt). Currently, I am looking to get a new set of wheels for next year’s racing season. We will see how things work out (I’m hoping for the new 2008 Specialized). I don’t drive yet, so all my money and energy goes towards the great sport of gravity racing. My goal for the 2008 racing season is end up in the top 10 of the Sport Division Overall. In my spare time I like to watch movies, some comedy some scary.

Yep, it’s pronounced Brewski, great name to have in college. And 29?!- Thanks Stevo, I wish I was 29 again. I’ve been hangin’ out with the Mojo camp for the past couple of years, thanks to Coop I switched from riding Xcountry recreationally to racing in the MSC Gravity series. I started riding mountain bikes about 6 years ago and have 6 bikes (road and townie included), I’m hooked. This year I hope to learn how to jump and drop something bigger than 2 foot- I know, most 6 year olds already have me beat but hey, I don’t bounce off the ground quite like I used to. It would be nice to have more girls of all ages get into the gravity scene. I came out to Colorado on my vacation times living back in Iowa to do some downhilling. Me and my buddies started downhilling on some old bikes that never had suspension. It was rough but it was the funnest thing I had ever done on a bike. So I moved to the great state to pursue the mountains and what they had to offer. And this being my first year riding gravity competition it will be one I never will forget. Injuries kept me out for most of it but the rush you get from it is something I will never let go. I have been a competitor all my life and this is something that gets me fired up. I really started snowboarding but since the downhill started it is all I want to do. Meeting the crew from Mojo and riding with the fellas is something to look forward to all the time. I got to give props out to Jrock, Andrew, Bob , Gillespie for taking me to places I would have never known about and pushing my skills to the next level. And thanks to Steve and Lisa for the hook up on the team. It’s been great and looking forward to the seasons to come.

Stevo......I was into motorcycles when I was a kid (that would be way back in the 70's), so after I through my leg over a mountain bike about ten years ago, I was hooked. I felt like I was fifteen again. The first time crashed, I was invigorated. What a way to release all that modern day stress! Downhill riding was just a natural extension to my cross country roots. I love the fun and fitness. Being involved with the junior race team has been very fulfilling the last few years. It is a great way to spend time with the family and share a sport we all love. My goal this year: Jumping jumping jumping. And by the way, Pulp Fiction is the best movie ever.

I started riding Super Downhill two years ago. My son Doug is on the Junior team and I thought if I am going to all the races I might as well compete in something .I am really glad I decided to ride, there is nothing better than rolling down a trial on a sunny Rockie Mountain summer morning. Some years ago I used to road bike, I can say skinny tires are no where near as enjoyable as fat tire experience. Although it is tempting to try down hilling, at this stage of my sports life, I think I will be sticking to the SD.

Like some others on the team I am a military veteran having served in the US Army. I played college football and rugby for ten years for the Los Angeles Rugby Club; two sports that certainly help deal with the scraps and bruises of gravity riding. I have to say that everyone associated with Mojo are a pleasure to be around.
My goals for '08 are to try to improve on my speed and cornering in order to be more competitive.and lobby MSC for a 60 and over category in the SD. I am riding for the fun of it so If can stay on seat side of the bars and finish each race in front of somebody it will be a satisfying season.

Favorite movie: Snatch What is on your iPod: What's an iPod? Last restaurant you ate at: Sushi Den What’s worth more? bike or vehicle? The Bikes are worth more to me than any of my vehicles. What is your situation? married or single? I am Married with 2 daughters. My wife loves to ride and has several mountain bikes. We do tons of mtb vacations that will get us to Moab 10+ times a year. Fresh out of the swamps and looking to fill that competitiveness void. I moved to Boulder from Louisiana in June of '06, and I got rid of my dirt bike and picked up a dirt jumper. HOOKED-- this is the first time in my life that I have ever focused all of my free time on a single sport. With roots in dirtbiking and BMX I just had the urge to fly. I got my first taste of down hilling towards the end of the '07 season at Keystone...ON MY P.1... It was hell, but I couldn't stop. I knew I needed to get back into racing, and the best thing for a poor college student is MX and DS. I will be serving up some rump roast on a platter, so please grab a seat and dig in. haha

I have been in the Army for almost 16 years, my rank is 1SG and lead a Anti-Armor Light Infantry unit out of FT Carson, I am an Airborne Ranger and have done about everything in the Army and been all around the world, I am currently in Iraq serving my second tour. When I was 13 I got into BMX and by the age of 16 I attained the CT State rank of #1 on my 20 and 24 inch bike, my Dad and I point chased and collected trophies together as our bonding experience. When I was 18 I got involved in dirt jumping as it got popular, I had to get a job to pay for my car but have always remained loyal to one of my passions in life. I have owned Mountain Bikes through every level of advancement and change just like my other hobby that I have changed with, snowboarding. I have changed with the sports and have gotten better at both just break easier in my 30’s. I love talking extreme sports and can’t wait until next summer to ride all that Colorado has to offer. Jumping and going DH is pretty much what I am into now. I can’t wait to beat on my new VP Free; I plan on retiring in Co so I will be around for a while. I will be back in Colorado after Christmas sometime and will look forward to taking some snowboarding trips. Thanks and hope to talk with you all soon. -Todd

This season will be my second season on a downhill bike, and I am stoked to put my skills to the test and represent the Mojo Wheels. I have been riding a bike for as long as I can remember, but when I learned about the gravity side of the sport last year, all other aspects became less important to me. My experience comes from the snowboarding side of things, and I think my understanding of the mountains and how to commit will help me go even faster this year on my bike. I was very lucky to ride with the most exceptional riders I have ever seen last year....Bob and Nyle. Watching them helped me improve more than anything else, and I look forward to learning even more from them this year. Thanks Mojo, for being the best bike shop around!!

To get the specifics out of the way first, I'm no where close to being the fastest person out there, however I do enjoy every second I'm riding, and am getting faster every day. I enjoy every aspect of downhill riding, from the fresh mountain air, the adrenaline fest that is mountain biking, all the way down to the mechanical nature of the bikes we ride. I currently am a mechanic for Mojo Wheels, and you'll probably see me doing tech support at many of the upcoming races!

Maximus bicyclist. Blew knee up at Keystone. What can we say, 13 screws and a titanium plate. Good luck with that rehab Max! Max is super fast and can hang with the semi-pros, but while he rehabs that knee, he will be helping out with wrenching at the races. Max is one of the best mechanics around.
